follow-your-passion

Now that you’ve seen the massive opportunity that exists on Amazon for third party sellers right now, the next question that always comes up is: “How do I pick a winning product?”

The answer to this question is actually two-fold.

First up, there are some technical things to consider when choosing a product.

For this we use our foolproof 5-point checklist (we call it the “Profit Bulls-Eye”) that lets you quickly zero-in on the products that can make you lots of money quickly. We’ll tell you more about the easy-to-use Profit Bulls-Eye in our next post.

But before we look at the data, we start with a much simpler concept…what we call the “interest or passion factor”.

Now there’s nothing special or magical about this part of the product selection process. It simply means that it’s important to choose a product in an area of interest to you. If there are things you’re passionate about and you can find a product in that space – great!

As an example, if you’re an avid golfer and love the sport, then finding a golf product you can sell on Amazon makes perfect sense. Chances are you’ll understand the market, the language or jargon used by your potential customers, the competition, and the pros and cons of the various potential products you may want to sell.

On the other hand, if you hate cooking and rarely spend time in the kitchen, it’s probably not the best idea for you to choose a kitchen product.

There are millions of products on Amazon and chances are really good that no matter where your interests and passions lie, you’ll be able to find a niche that you can profitably serve.

Here’s a list of the best top level categories that all have thousands and thousands of opportunities just waiting for you to capitalize on:

  • Movies, Music and Games
  • Electronics and Computers
  • Home, Garden and Tools
  • Beauty, Health and Grocery
  • Toys, Kids and Baby
  • Clothing, Shoes and Jewelry
  • Handmade
  • Sports and Outdoors
  • Automotive and Industrial

Keep in mind that these are just the top level categories. Each one has hundreds of subcategories with thousands of potential opportunities.

So sit back and take a few minutes to think about the market you’d like to serve.

Choosing something that interests you will not only be more profitable, chances are it will also be a whole lot more fun.

Check back soon because in our next post we’re going to reveal our 5-step “Profit Bulls-Eye”, to help you choose the perfect product to launch your profitable Amazon business empire.
